Abstract:  

The goal of the session is to introduce Moodle learning management system for face-to-face, blended (hybrid), and fully online programs. Participants will learn how to teach online using the activities, resources, and blocks available on Moodle to develop their own individual and collaborative Moodle courses.

Target audience:

• Teachers of any subject area or age group (young to adult learners)

• Anyone interested in developing and teaching online courses for blended and/or fully online learning programs or the flipped classroom (paid and free courses).

Session objectives: 

By the end of the workshop learners should be able to:

• Compare the resources and activities in a Moodle course
• Discuss the role of a teacher in the classroom and in a Moodle course 
• Explore Moodle Tools in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio
• Document the resources available in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio by creating video tutorials using Screencast-o-Matic and publishing them on Youtube and/or Vimeo 
• Document the activities available in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio by creating video tutorials using Screencast-o-Matic and publishing videos on Youtube and/or Vimeo. 
• Discuss the role of a manager of a school and in a Moodle course
• Explore Moodle Tools in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio
• Document the blocks available on Moodle in the main course area as a student.
• Document the blocks available in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio as a manager of the course by showing how to add blocks. 
• Prepare a collaborative teamwork policy and a syllabus for their course.

Week 1: (January 10 - 16) Introduction and Orientation

 

Week 1 Introduction to M4TL2TO - EVO22, Moodle layout and to the participants, Screencast-o-Matic, Awesome, LOOM, Edpuzzle, Flipgrid, and Vimeo for screen recording to create video tutorials, and team formation.

• Moodle as a platform designed for team peer learning and learner autonomy  

• Interactive discussions for information sharing and effective team building tools.

• Introduction to Screencast-o-Matic, LOOM, Flipgrid, Edpuzzle, Awesome, and Vimeo to create video tutorials

• Learn and Teach with Moodle

• Learn to navigate a Moodle course, use the rich editor, and record audio and video using PoodLL and the recorder, navigate and update personal Moodle profile, and post to the online discussion forums.

• Discuss the meaning of student engagement and brainstorm ideas for collaborative lessons and projects.

• Team formation for team peer learning

• Choose a course topic for the collaborative course.

Week 2: (January 17 - 23) Moodle Resources and Activities

 

In week 2, participants will receive teacher and manager rights, so you can try out the resources and activities available in a Moodle course in the Teacher Practice Area (TPA). They will receive team areas to practice adding resources and activities available on the Moodle. 

 

• Compare the resources and activities in a Moodle course

• Discuss the role of a teacher in the classroom and in a Moodle course 

• Explore Moodle Tools in in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio

• Document the resources available in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio by creating video tutorials using Screencast-o-Matic, LOOM, Vimeo, Edpuzzle, Flipgrid, or Awesome and publishing them on Youtube and/or Vimeo 

• Document the activities available in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio by creating video tutorials using Screencast-o-Matic, LOOM, Vimeo, Edpuzzle, Flipgrid, or Awesome and publishing videos on Youtube and/or Vimeo.

Week 3: (January 24 - 30) Moodle Blocks and Planning a Collaborative Online Course

 

In week 3, participants will receive rights as managers of a Moodle course and work on the blocks. They will practice in the Block Practice Area (BPA). They will also start working on their collaborative courses. 

• Discuss the role of a manager of a school and in a Moodle course

• Explore Moodle tools by adding blocks in the block area in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio

• Document the blocks available on Moodle in the main course area as a student.

• Document the blocks available in the block area as a manager of the course by showing how to add blocks in their courses on Moodle Cloud or Gnomio. 

• Prepare a collaborative teamwork policy and a syllabus for their collaborative courses.

• Get an account on Teachers Teaching Teachers https://onlinecourses4free.com where they will develop their collaborative courses.

Week 4: (January 31 - February 6) Collaborative Course Design

 

In weeks 3 - 5, participants will work in teams to design a collaborative course on Teachers Teaching Teachers Moodle site. They will document the process using Screencast-o-Matic, LOOM, Edpuzzle, Vimeo, Flipgrid, or Awesome and publish the recording as a team on Youtube or Vimeo. 

Participants will learn to create and use digital badges and create certificates for their courses that relate to the activities of their Moodle courses.

Week 5: (February 7 - 13) Showcase and Reflections

 

In week 5, participants will create videos to document their courses, reflect, and share them on Padlet, Wakelet, Lino, Miro or any other curation tool and provide feedback. They will fill in the EVO22 feedback form.

She teaches subjects such as English proficiency, literature, methodology and technology. She coordinates and delivers virtual exchange projects and facilitates MOOCs sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. She is currently doing her PhD about the development of TPACK in preservice education. Zeynab Moosavi	znb.moussavi@yahoo.com	Iran	Zeynab Moosavi holds a Master’s degree in ELT, and is a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instructional Technology in University of Malaya, Malaysia. She has been teaching English face to face and online at Language Centers and Universities in Iran and Malaysia. She uses a variety of technology tools such as Moodle, Canvas, Padlet, Storyboard that, Canva, Voki, Google Drive, Quizlet, Kahoot, ZOOM, Screencast-o-matic and Nearpod to engage her students in learning process. Bansal, Sonam	sonambansal9099@gmail.com	India	Dr. SONAM BANSAL is working as Assistant Professor at Rao Lal Singh College of Education, Sidhrawali, Gurugram, India. I have done  Ph.D. (Education) from Panjab University, Chandigarh. I have a total of Seventeen years of teaching experience. I have published more than 30 papers in international and national journals. I got the best teacher award for academic excellence on September 3rd, 2021 from Vice-Chancellor, Gurugram University, Gurugram.  I am an active member of the CTEF Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter, Lifetime member of  ICTE, CTE, AIAER, AIATE.   My areas of specialization are psychology, disability studies, educational technology, instructional designs, OER, pedagogical techniques and approaches, assessment, and evaluation.  I have given various extension lectures and presented many lectures as a resource person on ICT Enabled programs all over India. I have conducted various FDP’s as a resource person individually to train the participants on ICT enabled strategies.  I have signed an MOU with our college for OERu outreach Partnership Programme with Dr. Wayne Mackintosh, Director UNESCO/ ICDE Chair in OER, New Zealand. I got two times special Appreciation award from V.C. of Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak for the upliftment of Cultural Activities among students in B.Ed. College in Zonal/ Inter-zonal youth Festival.  Presently, launched a 4 week self-paced open online course on" Techno-Pedagogical skills for Sustainable Development" Total enrolment of 1100 in this course. This course has been launched as a part of the International Online Mentoring Programme of Open Education for a Better World, Slovenia and *UNESCO Chair on Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Learning.
Praveen  Kumar T.D	praviedu2011@gmail.com	India	Dr. Praveen Kumar T.D working as Assistant professor in reputed Teacher Education Institution situated at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Before joining  as Teacher Educator he was working as Assistant Teacher, Lecturer at Jain Group institution.  He has 16 years of teaching experience with innovative practices.  ICT is his passion. ICT integrated teaching pedagogy is his main area of research. he completed his Ph.D in Education and also Literature. Act as resource person, trainer in various national and International workshops, seminars related to MOOCs, Digital Pedagogy, Mobile applications in education, OER and FOSS. He done his OER project under UNESCO - OE4BW (4 weeks course). Acting as mentor in "Open Education India" from past 3 years and helped mentee to create open education resources.
