Abstract:
Good learning habits facilitate lifelong learning. In this session, participants will learn about, develop, and learn how to implement effective learning habits that engage and motivate students to make good use of their time in and out of class. They will develop personal student competency charts to facilitate the process. They will use technology tools such as Kahoot Challenge, Quizlet, and Curation walls to enforce and sustain learning. The session is based on personal competency framework (PCF) capacity for student to develop effective learning habits in and out of school. As teachers, we want to see students develop learning habits that will facilitate their school learning period and future careers. The session is based on Learning Habits in Personalization by Sam Redding and Janet Twyman, Personal Competency: A Framework for Building Students' Capacity to Learn by Sam Redding.

Syllabus:
Week 1: (January 10 - 16) Getting Acquainted and Cognitive Competency
In week 1, participants will get acquainted with each other, the layout of the section, and with the tools.
Week 2: (January 17 - 23) Metacognitive Competency
Week 3: (January 24 - 30) Motivational Competency
Week 4: (January 31 - February 6) Social and Emotional Competency
Week 5: (February 7 - 13) Showcase and Reflect

She offers free annual online professional developments courses and webinars on Moodle for Teachers. Course topics include learner autonomy (online and face-to-face) with technology & self-care with mindfulness & the Alexander technique. She applies process based team peer learning, supportive learner autonomy teaching & technologies such as Moodle, Google Classroom, Padet, Wakelet, SMORE Fieldtrip, Quizlet, Kahoot, Voki, Flipgrid, ZOOM, Jitsi, Screencast-o-matic, Vimeo, Nearpod, Quizizz, MeritHub & Google drive. She founded the annual Moodle & Virtual World MOOCs & online conferences (CO09-CO21) (MMVC11-21). She’s on the TESOL CALL-IS committee & EVO coordinating team. |

Sudarshana Shirude : She has been working as a primary teacher in a government school of Maharashtra in India since 2004. She has passed her masters degree in English. She teaches English, Science and Mathematics to her students. She is working as a tag coordinator of TEJAS project run by the British council in Maharashtra {India} to facilitate the teachers for their CPD. She had worked as the MOOC coordinator for Spoken English online course for government teachers. Recently she has presented her exploratory action research and also guided her colleague for her research as a mentor through the EMAR project. |
