Learning is fun when it is social. In this session, participants will learn how to engage students in collaborative team-based learning in and out of the classroom using their computers and/or smart phones. The focus will be on Google drive and Audio (OTT-O-Matic and Kaizena ) Add-ons (Text, Spreadsheet, Forms, Slides, Jamboards), curation tools (Miro, Ideaboardz, Mural, Conceptboard, Padlet, Wakelet, Popplet), VoiceThread, Nearpod, Edpuzzle, Quizlet, Kahoot, Voki, Screen recorders (Flipgrid, Vimeo, Screencast-o-matic, LOOM, Edpuzzle), Canva, Book Creator, Video Ant, Amanote, and other tools that enhance student collaboration.
Target audience:
Teachers of different age groups with diverse backgrounds and streams
Faculty, teacher trainees and teacher training staff/teacher educators
Session objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will have learned about and practiced using audio, video, images, and text tools for student collaboration.
By the end of the session, participants will have used Screen recorders (Flipgrid, Vimeo, Screencast-o-matic, LOOM, Edpuzzle), Google Drive and Audio (Kaizena and Otto-o-matic) Add-Ons (text, slides, forms, and sheets), curation tools (Wakelet, Miro, Ideaboardz, Mural, Conceptboard, and Padlet), and other tools such as Nearpod, Voki, Kahoot, Canva, Book Creator, Video Ant, Amanote, and Quizlet.
By the end of the session, participants will have created collaborative learning activities for their English language learners (ELL) in and out of the classroom.
Syllabus:
Week 1: (January 10 - 16) Introduction
In week 1, participants will get acquainted with the each other, the moderator, the platform, get accounts for the tools, and team up. They will introduce themselves by text, audio, and video using the recorders on the editor of the message areas and through Voki. They will discuss collaborative learning and teaching with technology and start the process of teaming up. Each member of the team will choose a curation wall create a video tutorial outlining how they create the wall and how they intend to use it, publish the video (MP4) to YouTube or Vimeo and share the link with the members of the session.
In week 2, participants will use Google word text docs by copying team policy and lesson plan templates, Voicethread, Kahoot, and add Quizlet as they collaborate and create pre-lesson activities for their class chosen debate topic. They will work in teams or individually as they create a team policy and prepare 1 debate topic with 5 for and 5 against points using the comments on the doc and adding audio using Kaizena Add-on for team collaboration. Each member of the team will add the final Google doc to the team and individual curation walls and share the links of the curation walls with the other participants.
Week 3: (January 24 - 30) Presentations and Videos
In week 3, participants will use Google Slides and other collaborative tools. They will work in teams or individually to create a Google presentation with only images on a topic of their team choice. They will record their voice and add the audio to each slide using OTT-O-MATIC Add-on or Nearpod. They will record the whole presentation using Flipgrid, Vimeo, LOOM, Edpuzzle, or Screencast-o-matic, publish the MP4 on Youtube or Vimeo and share the link. They will add interactive activities (questions) using Edpuzzle, Nearpod, and Video Ant. They will add the final interactive video work to their team and individual curation walls and share the links.
Week 4: (January 31 - February 6) Research and Quizzes
In week 4, participants will create Google forms for research and for quiz purposes in team by adding each other as collaborators for student team projects and record the form using one of the following screen recorders: LOOM, Flipgrid, Vimeo, Screencast-o-matic, or Edpuzzle. They will publish the form to get results and share the results of the research and quiz on their team and individual walls. They will work as a team to add the quiz to Quizlet and share their quizzes on the session Quizlet classroom https://quizlet.com/join/NUMVGvPtA
Week 5: (February 7 - 13) Showcase and Reflect
In week 5, participants will reflect as a team by creating a collaborative book using Book Creator. They will create a Canva account and add each team member so they can create images, presentation, cover for the book and so on. They will add the link to the collaborative book (individually) on their individual Padlet/Wakelet/Miro/Mural wall.
Moderators: Co-moderators are expected to take part in the training session along with moderators.

Her dissertation was on instructor experiences with using technology in blended learning. She organizes free annual online professional developments courses and webinars on Moodle for Teachers. Course topics include learner autonomy (online and face-to-face) with technology & self-care with mindfulness & the Alexander technique. She applies process based team peer learning, supportive learner autonomy teaching & technologies such as Moodle, Google Classroom, Padet, Wakelet, Quizlet, Kahoot, Voki, Flipgrid, ZOOM, Jitsi, Screencast-o-matic, Vimeo, Nearpod, Quizizz, MeritHub & Google drive. She founded the annual Moodle & Virtual World MOOCs & online conferences (CO09-CO21) (MMVC11-21). She’s on the TESOL CALL-IS committee & EVO coordinating team.

Maria Flouraki is an ESL teacher residing in Greece, where she teaches English and runs a Foreign Languages Centre. She holds a bachelor's degree from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens in English Studies and is a lifelong learner. She has long experience in teaching young learners and teenagers as well as adults (over 25 years), guiding them from their first steps to the highest C2 Proficiency level and preparing them to sit for internationally recognised exams (Cambridge, Michigan, NOCN, PTE, TOEIC, IELTS etc) to certify their knowledge apart from acquiring fluency and developing essential 21st century skills. She integrates technology in her teaching and uses a variety of tools with her learners.
